How long do they take to hatch?

My brothers angelfish have laid eggs. They are in a community tank with neons and cories. Is there much of a chance for the fry once they have been hatched?

There is an internal cartridge sponge filter in the tank. Would this kill a few fry?

Would the fry survive in a tank that has no/little filtration? I have a spare tank but it has a cannister filter & it hasnt been cycled.

They will hatch in 2/3 days & will be free swimming after 4/5 days. The parents will take care of them & keep the Neons away, but you might lose a few fry. A sponge filter is ideal with fish fry as it doesn't suck the fry. Cycle the other tank & put a sponge filter & try to catch the Angel fry when they are free swimming.

I'll try to catch the fry when they are free swimming then

You have given me an idea. I'll get a sponge filter & cycle it in a cycled tank & move the fry & filter when they are ready.

Thanks for the quick advice.

the parents will take good care of the fry, you can keep the fry in the tank until the parents are ready to lay again, as for you filter take a small sponge and make a slice into the end of it then pull it over the intake tube of your filter and put a elastic around the top to hold it in place.

good luck

your other tank will be cycled by the time they are ready to be moved

The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an bacon and egg breakfast: the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'."
