I have a 55g and wonder if it is possible. I would put the male Betta in first. He is still on the small side, so I'm assuming that means he is still young. He would be in the tank atleast a couple days before putting in a small angel (or two). The angels would only be about 2-3 inches tall. If the Betta was in first, and the angel was small, could it work in a 55g? My plant is moderately planted. I have a picture in the photo booth forum. Has anyone had any success? If so what are your secrets? :%) |

All my tanks have gouramis except the one with the angel. The answers were about 50/50. It comes down to the betta and angels personalities. In the end I tried sticking the betta in the 29g with the angel and couldn't have a happier betta. Although I think one reason it worked is because the angel is a bit bigger and intimidating. The betta will chase after the smaller fish in the tank(too fast for him) but backs off when faced with the angel. If the angels were smaller than the betta and the betta was slightly more on the agressive side it probably wouldn't work out. |

I will have to see tomorrow (hopefully) when I go to the LFS. I can always put my new Betta in my empty 5g, but I'm really trying to cut down on the number of tanks, so my parents will let me have a 48g. I just got him yesterday. I have been wanting another one for a while. I already have one male Betta in a 10g with neons and he just minds his own business. Every now and then I see him following them but I have never seen him chase one. The new Betta is the one I want to put in my 55g. He seems a little timid, but maybe its because he is in a new environment...outside that small bowl. He is rather small. Maybe if I can tell that the angel is a little bigger, then it might work.Sham, I just found your post after I put mine on here. I think I'll try adding them at the same time like someone suggested. It does seem to be 50/50 answers so I guess I should just see how it turns out. I can always take him out if something goes wrong. I have always wanted an angel, but I have a soft spot for Bettas also. I would take all of them home if I could.:%) |

I would get an extra 1 gal tank or have a back-up home for the betta if he starts to pick on the angel. Inky ![]() |
