I have a 3 Gallon tank (Eclipse System 3) and four Regular WCMM, 2F and 2M. I was just wondering if anyone had any good tips on how to breed them. I have an extra tank - a 2 Gallon; should I use this for the spawning? I'm concerned that the fry will probably get sucked up into the filter and never be seen agian. I'm a first timer at this, and would love some advice.

One last thing - The females seem to 'flare' and nip at each other. Is this common amoung females? Also, the older male completly ignores the females, while the younger one is interested in spawing with them, but they seem to go after the older one. Help?

There are some articles that you can read which would help you far more than I can. A search turned up these:

These critters are reputed to be very easy to breed, even in tanks not set up for the purpose.

Likely your females are bothering each other to establish who the dominant gal is. Male and female fish of many species exhibit this behavior, and seem to have their own social hierarchies. This is probably the case here.

Sorry about the wait on a response, and welcome to Fish Profiles!
