I was wondering what is the minimum tank size and feeding for this fish?

Big. They can get to be a couple feet long (some species) so you need a tank wide enough to let them turn around, and long enough to swim several body lengths without turning... There is lots of good arowana info over at monsterfishkeepers.net

Depends what type of arowanna, the common silver one usually reaches 3-4 feet, meaning it would need a 8 footer, about a 240 gallon tank. The australian and asian ones get about 2-3 foot and grow slower than the silver, which would mean it would need about a 6-8 foot tank. Of course, a larger tank would ALWAYS be better.

You should grow out small arowannas (under a foot) in a 50 gallon tank, then move it to a larger tank. Small arowannas are shy in larger tanks and may not eat.

Small arowannas will eat small krickets, chopped up krill, pellets (sometimes) and small fish. Large ones will eat millipedes and centipedes (popular in hong kong/china), small frogs, fish that can fit in their mouth, krill, pellets. Sometimes they will accept chopped pieces of meat if they reach it before sinking.

hey ppl!
i currently own a 16inch arowana in a 60g tank...but i'll soon get him a bigger one..arowana is just an awesome fish..bear in mind that the australian arowana WILL not be able to mix with any other fishes...the nice part of these guys is that they swim very very gracefully...very different from other fishes..about eating, they'll eat ANY meaty stuffs which can enter it's mouth..i used to have a 24 inch silver arowana and that guy ate a 7 inch bala shark..therefore, if u want to get one..think bout it carefully...and DO NOT put any heater in the tank...as the arowana might just hit it and break it(thats how i lost my silver arowana) while chasing some small fishes or anything else...

In addition to what the posters before said:

These fish are strong. The larger ones do not only require a top that closes off the tank, but this top will need to be weighted down to stay put.

I also read that, depending on the glass-top thickness, they can ram against the top and actually break it.

And – as mentioned by the previous posters but just in case some reader didn’t see it – they get pretty big and need a LARGE tank.

I have an arowana, and its just shy of 2 feet in a 140 gal tank and im aware that he needs more space already, the filtration is rated for this size of tank, but occasionally his messy feeding can push the limit of nitrate acceptability.Fortunately it was always my plan to have a conservatory used as a tropical house, so eventually he will be going into a heated pond i originally planned for red eared turtles with 13 times the total volume of water filtered per hour.To be honest i dont consider them aquarium fish, and more like indoor pond fish or for public aquaria .Unless youre a bit loaded or have planned well in advance you will have issues.

Thank god you cant get arapeima in the uk , or people would probably be buying them too , i dont want to imagine the size of aquaria that would need? 8000 gal+ ?.
