Hi there,
I just been to a lfs..it's a new one and only 2min from my house
There i saw some very nice Australian rainbows.
Can i have those with my Angelfish?
I was thinking of getting 4 of them for my 75g..is that ok?

I know human beings and fish can co-exist peacefully.

I don't think that there should be too much trouble with that, but I recommend keeping 6 rainbows to make a school. The only aggression might be the angels biting the rainbows. I've never tried it so I'm not 100% sure. What else is in the tank?

I have kept 3 types of angel with 6 species of rainbowfish, and there is no aggression between the species, they generally keep all confrontations between their own kind, but i do have them in a large aquarium. The major concern is really that rainbows especially the adults can be so fast and strong that they outcompete even the larger angels for food, an easy way to counter this is simply to offer dry foods first, and then offer the frozen and live fare a few minutes after therefore allowing the angels to feed with the competition, only drawback is though, that you may get some quite fat rainbowfish.

That aside as compatible species they work quite well, both benefitting from well oxygenated water and sizeable aquaria with moderate to heavY planting for cover and open areas in the middle of the tank.

Angels and rainbow combinations will have to be parted should you wish to breed either as both species will readily consume eggs and neonates of the other. If you wish to keep these species together you will eventually need a very large tank, as angels require a certain amount of aquarium height when mature, and the rainbows need the length, a 5ft x 2ft x 1ft would be fine for a trio of adult angels and 5 or six adult rainbows- common mistake with both species is to underestimate the full adult size of them. A 6x 3 x 2 would be much better particularly if you wish to crowd the rear of the tank with bogwood and plants. Both species seem to appreciate blackwater extract in the water.
