Alex, I never said that you need to stuff him until he is about to explode. I said they are opportunistic hunters, and as long as they are well fed they do not seem to hunt. Miss a couple of feedings and you might find a tetra or 2 missing. BGK's do not hunt if they do not have to IME. |

However, I still would not risk it. What happens if you can't feed the fish for some reason, or go on a trip? If the knife fish is large enough and hungry enough, there is a good chance that those rummynose tetras will just become a snack. Granted, a beautiful and expensive snack that you would have come to love, but just a snack nonetheless. |

From my research, mine's the exception to the rule. It will depend on the BGK you have/get. His personality will dictate whether he munches on smaller inhabitants or not in the long run... ![]() PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread. |

About 15 glolight tetras; 3 or 4 otos, and even a very small ram. Meh, he is one of my fave fish. They only go missing when I forget to feed. I kinda like having a mild mannered hunter in the tank. It keeps everyone on their toes, and since he only hunts at night it doesn't really stress them. I just replace his snacks. No biggy |
