i have my guppy babies in a bowl i'm just wondering if my pencilfish would eat them, i have 3 in a 5gallon and my little brother is getting plants later but now we just have plastic plants can i add my babies for a few weeks?there bigger then the mouths of the pencils, i also dont know what kind they are, it said rocket pencilfish at my lfs.

If they'll fit in their mouth's, they'll be eaten. Just make sure that they'll big enough & then add them to your tank. Plants will help the fry to hide & survive more.

Most likely it will be fine. Using my rather rusty Latin, the pencilfish genus name (Nannostomus) means "small mouth". They are not very efficient predators.

If the guppies are larger than the pencilfishes' mouths, then it should be fine.

when i had some baby guppies they hid in the gravel. they would lie in it next to the side in a little crevice so that the fish could not see them and they didnt have to worry about being eaten. but they are hard to find since they have no color for awhile and blend into their surroundings.
