I like Stormy have become a rescuer today. Except mine wasn't at an lfs, but as school. Also mine wasn't going into the trash can, but into the toilet. So here's the story...

Ya'll all remember the young teacher who teaches the special ed PreK (PPCD) calss I introduced you to last week right? And she had a beta that she moved to the 10 gallon for more room to swim. Well, the other teacher with the fish tank and goldfish/comets in it offered her some feeder comets from her tank to put in the PPCD tank so it wouldn't look as empty...well she got the the small feeder goldfish and dumped them into the 10 gallon with Beta, and 2 Gold Barbs. Well, Beta did what he does best and went after the feeders, and ate them (or so i've been told, I suspect he just killed them). So in the time it took him to kill 3 or 4, she grabbed the net, and scooped him out and put him back in his very small original tank, telling him he was in time out!

Well, I ran into her shortly after this and of course asked how the fish were doing, and she told me of what had happened...I tried to explain to her he was only doing what he does naturally, but she was still quite upset with Beta.

End of the day comes and we have training on how to give the TAKS test, and she comes up to me and tells me she is still upset with Beta, and is going to flush him, she just doesn't want a fish that would do that. I tell her not to flush him I'll take him. So after the meeting she brings him bowl and all back to the library where I was and leaves him for me.

On the way home all I could think of was the Bad Boys theme song from Cops (Bad Boys, Bad Boys what ya gonna do, what ya gonna do when they come for you, Bad Boys, Bad Boys what ya gonna do, what ya gonna do when they come for you...Nobody never give you no break, police, never give you no break, Oh ho soldiers never give you no break, Oh teachers never give you no break, Ya ya yea) So of course he has now been named as Bad Boy...

Anyways, that is the tell of how I got my first Beta, and on payday, he will be getting a 5 gallon tank or so, and be moved to my house...

Oh did I forget to mention he isn't that much to look at? It truth it looks like he fell into the kindergarten's water colors...

Good job Heidi! Punish an animal with death for doing what is natural for it? For a teacher, she is not very into educating HERSELF is she? What sort of an example would that set for her students?

By the way, I like the color he is!

Right now he is visiting at my house and for a while was giving Gofish an excuse to flare llike I hadn't seen him do in a long time. Ya know, you need a liscense to catch fish, too bad they don't require one to sell or buy fish.

I think he's cute

Does he have a double tail (to some degree)? In the first pic it looks like it's natually split. Would love to see him flare.

I think he is beautiful betta. If that teacher can stay that angry at a little fish, then I think she might be just as "special" as the students...

Yeah, good job Heidi.

My little rescue from last week isn't much to look at either, but I still think she's pretty. I'm amazed at how much personality bettas have; Leela is fast becoming my favorite fish

Thanks ya'll he is growing on me...can'twait till i get paid so i can get him a tank that will keep him warm at home Angela is still a bit upset with him. Come to find out he only killed one of the other fish she put in the tank, and they had quite some tail alsoso it explains why he went after the other fish. The one of the aides understands now why he did what he did. Here is another picture of Bad Boy...as far as a double tail I think it is only partly split, and probably because of previouse conditions at the lfs The top picture is the best one I have of him flaired...Heidi
