I went last week and it was great. The south american setup they have is huge. Ive never seen a pacu or leporinus that big in my life not to mention alot of other fish i didnt even know got that big. The mesurements on this site for fish must be captive measurements cause some of the fish i saw were like twice the size of whats ive always read. |

The problem is that it's always so crowded. Here's a link]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Photo%20Booth/43131.html[/link] to some of the pictures I took. Did you happen to see the huge sailfin plec? There's a good pic of it [link=here. Do you live in the area or were you just visiting? Unforunately I went with family and I couldn't take as much time as I wanted to take at the exhibits. A nic3e follow-up for me was seeing the fresh water aquarium maintained by the National Aquarium in the Barnes & Noble bookstore on the waterefront. Better Amazonia display of angelfish and discus than in the National Aquarium. I was particularly impressed that the discus were guarding eggs... __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |

I haven't had the opportunity to visit any of the really large aquariums in the country, such as this and the Shedd Aquarium. However, if I ever retire, I plan on taking a 2 year RV trip around the country and one of my highlights is to visit as many large aquariums as possible - that will be great. |

It has a small city feel that i like, im used to philly and nyc and they are way to populated and and you feel lost in them sometimes. |

Okay so I only work there...but yeah there's stuff to do in baltimore, specially if you've got younger members of the family along... DC also has an aquarium ...supposedly ...I live closer to it but haven't gone yet ...it's supposed to be free too .^_^ [hr width='40%'] It only hurts when I breathe" ![]() |

Of course, one reason is that it's much more extensive than most of the others in terms of fish... But I've been there so many times I could probably be a tour guide if I had any skill at public speaking. Really, a great aquarium. The Amazon set-up is quite amazing indeed; unfortunately, despite them being such a large aquarium, they didn't quite give themselves room to house an Arapaima... -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |
