A biotope aquarium is one which attempts to totally replicate a natural geographic area, and only uses fish, plants, decorations etc. that would be found in that area. E.g. an Amazon biotope would only use fish such as angelfish, cardinals etc. and use plants like Amazon swords and valisneria, and would have a natural sand substrate and use driftwood and possibly peat or black water extract to stain the water the tea colour. Of course, that's an extreme example, and most people are happy enough just to make sure their fish are all from the same area.

The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. - Oscar Wilde
