I'd look to some medium to large cichlids that aren't too aggressive. possibly jack dempsey, green terror, texas, synspilum, blue acara, convict etc. ![]() |

I had mine with some for a while...until it killed a PLECOSTOMUS... then I had to give it to my LFS 'cause I have no idea what to do with that kind of aggression ![]() It blends in with the cichlids and acts like them, you'd think it was one |

They get along well with my big severums, eartheaters, clown loaches, longfin barbs, a spotted bushfish and a foot-long pleco. Except for the alpha male sev, the biggest leporinus is the most aggresive fish in the tank. He tends to bully the smaller leporinus, but not to the point of injury. I've never seen him pester my pleco. |

If I'm not mistaken, this is because they have keep a pretty good dominance hiearchy in the wild, but without as many/any Leporinus in a fish tank they'll turn to other fish to beat upon. I had to separate my 3" Leporinus from 6" Bala Sharks because it was kicking their butts. IMO at least one or two other Leporinus might balance things out more (like Tiger Barbs). -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |

So we moved him into another tank with larger Jack Dempseys, and he killed one of them and hurt the rest. So then we put him in the 300 galllon, where we keep a school of 12" pacus, a 24" redtail cat, and a 20" marbled acara cat, and guess what... He bossed those guys around too! Even the catfish, which could have easily eaten him if they weren't so terrified of him. He was too small to actually hurt them, though.Eventually someone bought him, believe it or not. Anyway, I would stick with some large and/or aggressive cichlids, such as Managuas or red devils. ![]() Last edited by Cory Addict at 12-Feb-2005 23:05 ![]() I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash. |
