Anyone else breeding/bred these guys? Got a pair for a 12 gal.and now have the pair, and a few generations of small offspring. Raised naturally. Either going to buy a new tank to start putting the larger babies in..or put them into an existed 20 gal planted I have. Just curious what the breeding lifespan of these guys is, and experience with them.

They live about 2-3 years. Breeding lifespan varies, I think they would start lacking off around 1.5 yrs. You'll notice as they lay less and less eggs and more eggs are unfertile.

I'm just getting into killies and I was wondering if you could answer a few questions. You mentioned raising them naturally, what kind of aquascaping do you have in the tank (plants, substrate, etc)? Have you found them easy to keep? What types of foods are you feeding them?

Thanks

Actually, it was not a great tank. It was my son's 12 gal. Large gravel, I mean like river rock sized..bad for cleaning..but the baby killies seemed to get down in it to hide. Fake plants. Altho, I did throw in cuttings of my anachris from other tanks and just let it float from time to time..but, it's a low light tank so that didn't work well..mostly I just had fake. And there were a few large rocks that the adult and young killi seemed to enjoy staying under. It was very easy. I fed them all on flake and sometimes, Formula II Frozen food.. http://saltaquarium.about.com/library/blank/blffiformulatwofrozen.htm
Think that's it.

And yes, they were extremely easy to keep.
