I've had 6 Kribensis in 45 gallon tank for about 6 months toa year. They Haven't bred yet! I just got a new cave for them. All that's in there right now is the kribs, 4 cories, a RTBS, and 5 danios. The females are turning dark purple and shaking their sides at the male, is this a sign of mating or finding a mate. None of them have paired off yet. If you have any suggestions on anything please respond.

Feed them some meaty frozen foods, mysis shrimp or blood worms etc.
Sometimes a larger than normal water change will kickstart breeding.
Other than that, test your water, maybe somethings out of whack. Do you just have one cave? I would give them multiple choices for spawning sites.

i just checked the water, and everything is normal. I just did a water change. I'll start giving them meatier foods...what do you suggest I feed them? Is the food actually frozen, or freeze-dried?

I feed my kribs Hikari frozen mysis shrimp and bloodworms. When the fry are larger I also feed them frozen daphnia which the adults also eat. I don't use the frozen food every time I feed, maybe every second or third day.

My Kribs eggs hatched yesterday. They laid eggs 4 days ago, when we had a heat wave here and the tank temp went up to 80 degrees...so maybe turning your temp up a few degrees might do it. (FYI)I feed my kribs flake food most days and treat them to blood worms every other day.

Good luck!

P.S. Do you have pictures of your Kribs? Are you sure they are mixed males and females?

I have been breeding kribs, and what I did after growing out a half dozen, I removed all but two males and left in the females. I did weekly water changes of 40-50% and fed frozen foods. I have the lights on timers, and if you increase the time right after a water change, that usually does the trick. They are cave spawners so make sure they have a 'roof' to spawn upon. Good luck!

Here is a link for some additional information. If you do a google search for "Breeding Kribensis" you'll get numerous sites you can go to.
