Some of the submenus/folders I have in there are pretty well stocked, as it were (e.g., the Cichlid and Catfish sections), but one or two others are pretty sparsely populated. Needless to say, I already have PlanetCatfish, Corycats, the Cichlid Room and Loaches.com in the collection, as these are one-stop references of superb quality that I'm sure everyone here has. I also have the superb Rainbowfish site in my bookmarks (the Australian one that I'm sure quite a few here know and love). I am, however, in need of similarly good sites for other fish families. In particular, the folders in need of some good entries are: Assorted Oddballs Characins & Related Fishes Cyprinids Gobies & Related Fishes Killifishes Labyrinth Fishes Livebearers (Poeciliids etc) What I'm looking for are webpages whose content comprises both a reasonable level of detail of information with respect to assorted species, and a decent number of good quality photos of the fishes concerned. For example, if anyone out there knows of a really good page that would contain information on the 'Shark' type Cyprinids, namely Epalzeorhynchus and Labeo type fishes, a site that contains comprehensive listings of Hyphessobrycon and Hemigrammus characins with photos for ID purposes, and good quality Killifish sites, these will be especially welcome at the moment. However, if someone out there surprises me with, for example, a good quality site on Mastacembelid Eels (with photos) I'll also be duly grateful! So, post your site collections and recommendations! Some you'd like ![]() *www.ibc-smp.org for betta species *http://www.skepticalaquarist.com for those fun science questions Doesn't seem to be the TFH writer, but this fellow is DEFINATELY the original ![]() *www.planetcatfish.com is your one stop catfish site If anyone sees Keegan over there, lasso him and drag him back ![]() *http://www.waynesthisandthat.com/brineshrimp.htm is an awesome site (especially when his link to the main betta page works. Its mainly experiments etc to do with fish, foods, breeding and keeping. Interesting even to those utterly disinterested in bettas ![]() HTH ![]() |

I've invested too much of my time and energy in FishProfiles to consider joining another one! ![]() Basically, if I can find sites that are like PlanetCatfish or the Corycats site on other fishes, then this is my personal preference. The Rainbowfish site I mentioned above, namely: Home of the Rainbowfish is an example of the sort of thing I'm after with respect to other fishes. That one is an example in my view of how a fish information site should be done whether you're amateur OR professional, and it's highly polished - small wonder that the National Library of Australia has chosen to archive it! Oh, I'll take a look at those other links when I get a spare moment! Thanks to eveyone thus far, and I look forward to more of the same. Keep those links coming! |
