Hi,
I have a 29 gal planted Freshwater Aquarium with:
2 Angelfish,
4 Kribensis,
4 Glass Catfish
silver shark
which i have run for just over two years now. i've been looking into introducing a couple of Archerfish into the setup and done alot of research into this through the web, i know that my setup is Freshwater and that Archerfish are brackish but i plan on slowly adding aqua slat to my tank to overcome this, Is this the way i should go about this? and are the Archerfish compatiable with my current fish?

I would be very grateful for any replies. Thank you very much in advance...

Plain "aquarium salt" will not suffice; conversion to a brackish setup requires the gradual addition of marine salt. Your current stock are not likely to thrive in such a setup purely due to untenable variance from their preferred salinity range (overstocking concerns notwithstanding); the addition of salt will, in all probability, bring a swift end to your plants as well.

How large are your fish? Can you provide the scientific name of your "silver shark"? I express concern about the feasibility of maintaining what fish you presently own within the setup described, let alone adding further livestock.

Just the size alone of the archerfish makes them a bad addition to that tank. Also, the other fish you have will not tolerate brackish water. They will quickly die if much salt is added.

Just so that you know, that silver shark will outgrow your tank. They reach about a foot in length, and are really active fish. Accordingly, they need to be kept in much larger tanks.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that's just the way things are. On another note, welcome to the site!

I will agree with the previous posts. If the "silver shark" is in fact a bala shark then that may be too large for your current set up. Not to mention introducing 2 Archer fish that can easily surpass 10 inches.
