| Consolidation?!?!? | |
zachjc_14![]() Enthusiast Posts: 205 Kudos: 211 Votes: 24 Registered: 20-Apr-2004 ![]() | I have strewn about the house a grand total of seven fish tanks, large and small, custom and of normality. My mother is now driven thoroughly insane and demands consolidation of most of mt tanks into one 55 gallon display. I am willing to take back fish and apossibly add a few so any suggestions are greatly appreciated and considered. The fish list includes the following fish (all that I own): -Various Feeder and Fancy Guppies -1 Medium-Sized Opaline Gourami -4 Albino Tiger Barbs -Black Neons -Comet Goldfish -1 Unidentified Coldwater Minnow -2 Paradise Fish -1 Female Betta -3 Separted Male Bettas -2 Small Common Plecos -5 Cory Cats -1 White Cloud Mountain Minnow -Flame Tetras -1 Balloon Molly -Harlequin Rasboras -Ottos -Zebra Danios -Platies -Upside Down Catfish -2 Calico Mollies I do believe that is the completed list. I am alos aware that the comets may not be able to stay but for the sake of my family's sanity I must make sacrifices. Thank in advance. |

Return (these just won't work because of temps, IMO) Comet Goldfish, Coldwater minnow, white cloud I would keep: Guppies, [link=Black Neons if they are this type]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/blackneon.xm I would also keep the 3 male bettas, just beg mom to let you keep them, buy or create your own tank dividers and put them in a 10 or 20 gallon tank... Also return these: Albino Tiger Barbs, they are fin nippers ![]() Guarami Paradise Fish Flame Tetras, can also be fin nippers ![]() Balloon Molly, I'm afraid if it could cross breed with your calicoes if not keep it.2 common plecos, 1 could be kept, but he will be a heavy bio load, so take them both back ![]() Zebra Danios, again fin nippers ![]() This is going to give you livebearer central, but should be an interesting tank to watch and enjoy. Also as a side note, your female will help to take care of any "not so smart" fry, you could maybe even add another one, but watch them, they can get a bit troublesome at times...again this is just my thoughts, and it does knock you down to 2 tanks, and that should please mom So what will happen to the others?I see a lot of people who Got to have a piece of me I'd give the shirt right off my back If I had the nerve to say Take this job and shove it I ain't working here no more ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom." The gourami is more likely to be peaceful than the others you have and the male bettas are likely to be the worst but it's very personality dependent with those kinds of fish. Also if you kept one you would do best to get rid of the fin nippers mentioned above otherwise you could possibly keep a school of those and not a labyrinth fish. I would try to just get 1 or 2 top swimming schools and maybe a few other random fish that don't need schools. Then add to the cories for a school and the otos should do fine. Common plecos rarely stay small so it would be best to return at least one of these. I'm not fond of livebearers so if it were me I'd be dropping them all but it's your preference. If it were my 55g it would probably look like: 1 opaline gourami 6-8 black neons 6-8 cory Harlequin Rasboras otos upsidedown catfish It would be better if you listed what fish you'd like to keep the most otherwise your going to get alot of different opinions ba Last edited by sham at 07-May-2005 21:05 |

Posts: 2623 Kudos: 2462 Votes: 337 Registered: 29-Mar-2003 ![]() | you have to beg you mom to allow you to have an additional tank for the bettas, that way you can keep them...if you are allowed a 20 gallon then you could actually seperate it into 4 sections and put all four bettas in their own section, and then put the gourami in the tank with the livebearers...just another option, assuming it is a gentle gourami...I know I have my betta in the 125 with everyone else, and he's quite peaceful and loving ![]() best of luck....heidi michell I see a lot of people who Got to have a piece of me I'd give the shirt right off my back If I had the nerve to say Take this job and shove it I ain't working here no more ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom." The bettas are here to stay even if I have to stow them away in my closet. The tiger barbs are definitely leaving but I was thinking that the danios would be an excellent popukations control and the initial "bio-booster" fish. Personally I have never heard of flames being fin nippers but I do have a mysterious fin nipper in the tank terrorizing the fancy guppies so go figure. Keep the suggeations coming. THank you all. ~Zach |

So what will happen to the others?
