Either 1) A full tank of Cichlids.
or 2) a reef tank
or 3) a catfish/pleco tank.
I not only need to afford it, but I need the room for it too.

If cost is not a issue, and you want maximum "WOW" factor.....

Fill it with gold bars. As in actual bars of gold!

This way you won't have to worry about filtration at all. Although I guess you could fill around the gold with salt water and call it a reef tank.

(This fits under your "whatever" catagory. lol )

A big big tank....

OK, what about long arm shrimp, and a turtle?

If cost were no factor, I would hire Takashi Amano to set it up, using the finest equipment.
Ebo-Jager heaters, or perhaps titanium heaters.
Eheim filters,
Top of the line lighting, etc.
basically, the best that money could buy.

Blahhh discus, angels.... I've seen them in big tanks and they're no more active ....I've seen the large schools of neons and rummynoses and they're just the same as in smaller tanks ....no offence of course to those that like them .
Everyone seems to do cichlids...

I'd go with more active fish. Large school of 2 or three species of Corys. Nice big school of barbs, that sized tank could handle the more rambunctious rosies, and a school pictus. Little on the small side for balasharks but much better than what most people have them in, possibly trade them back to the LFS or up to a better sized tank after 2 years.

But for freash water i would go with Discus tank with co2 injection(for plants) and bog wood.

35 rummies noses
20 cardinal tetras
4 key hole cichlids
4 blue rams
10 peppers corries
15 ghost shrimp
20 hatchets

With a 200 gallon sump.

Cost no object? No problem. A giant sized version of my Panda Fun Palace™ with 24 Pandas in it.

Plus, big shoals of my Characins to go with them. And a dozen Otocinclus at least for the algae.

I'd deck it out with bogwood arches like you wouldn't believe - Takashi Amano eat your heart out - and among the plants, I'd have a nice forest of Cabomba lit with halide spots to make sure they got enough light. With 150 gallons to play with, I could then add a dozen or so Anomalochromis thomasi dwarf Cichlids, which are wonderfully peaceful, and in courtship colours, are an absolute blast. I reckon the end result would be the envy of many!

Can you imagine the mayhem at feeding time with 24 Pandas?

what about the predators?!!

a school of about 8 Red belly Pirhanas would be a great set up.

if you want something with a little more variety but just as much spunk, go a pair of flowerhorn cichlids, and a few fei feng barbs.

A saltwater setup with a dragon moray eel and a lionfish or two. Seriously, those are the coolest fish you will ever see.

Here is the question. If you had a 150g tank, and if cost of setup was not a factor, what would you do? I'm interested in all opinions as to filtration, fish, plants, fresh water, reef or whatever.
