First thing i've been handed a single danio who is now living in my livebearer tank (20g) along with 3 swords, 2 platies and 1 female guppy.

i've noticed in last couple days that the danio is chasing all the other fish. I am inteading to get a couple friends for him, will this then stop? be reduced? or will i have 3 danios chasing my other fish?
should i take him to LFS?

second thing, i only have one male in livebear tank a swordtail. can he mate with the platies, because he is trying??

Years ago when stocking a tank, I was told they will mate because they are very close to the same species.

Yes, they most likely will try to interbreed and they most likely will be successful. Swords and plattys are very closely related.

As for the danio, that is their nature. They are schooling fish and keeping them in groups of at least 6 keeps the nippiness and harassment within the school. Has the danio started nipping your other fish yet? Another thing, danios are carnivores, so they may try to eat any fry that your plattys and swords produce. I'm not 100% sure on that, but it makes sense. danios are small, but newly born fry are very small too. I suggest you find the danio another home.

If you want guppy fry, get a male and another female.
