I heard ppl use these as a natural filter. So I decided to get some to see if it really works, they all died on me and made a really really big mess in my tank!!
But the ones in my gf's tank all survived!
I think these guys need sand substance for survival; they need to dig in and hide and also a high ph.

Gee

Gee

!!I think I just learned somthing new!!

The seller accepts java moss? Well, I'll have plenty of that this summer...

seriously though, I am a bit shaky over these being legal to keep in my home state of California. I am pretty sure zebra mussels are illegal at least, just because if they're released into the waterways they can cause big environmental messes... I don't know about the clams though. I guess if they reproduced in your aquarium you could just eat 'em...

From what I've read of muscles they need clean water to begin with. Since they are filter feeders if they're kept in a messy tank (think of pleco poo) they'll die.

I wouldnt' spend that much on them.

They also like cooler water temps I've tried to keep them a few differant times and the longest they have survied for me is about 6 months, I found out after my third attempt they were not tropical fresh water and needed cool water
