A LFS has got some of these and i want one only because they are rare and something different. Ofcourse with every fish that is rare fetches a high price...

So i want to know a bit about these fish before i purchase them or think about purchasing them.

Any feedback thanks,

Well IME, these fish are little spawn from hell. When kept alone they'll chase after anything they have the chance to chase after, even if it's ten times their size. Not nice.

However, I am told that Leporinus will quiet down and keep the spats amongst themselves if kept in groups, kinda like foot long Tiger Barbs. I had kept mine alone not knowing this, but I'm not sure if this is 100% true or not as I haven't tried it out.

In any case, remember that these are pretty big fish that get around a foot long. They may not be Balas in activity, but they're not small, that's for sure.

Yeah i know they get to bout 30cms but they are compatible in my tank from what i have found on these guys so far. Unfortunately i cannot afford more then 2 the most of these guys as they are quite expensive here in Aus (think it was $70 or more each)

Thanks for the info, would they be a suitable centrepiece fish in say a pair?
