Does anyone know anthing about these things

they are not the arowanas
they look like bichirs exept scaleless with an ugly face and tiny beady eyes.
they have them at petsmart.
somewhat resembles a wolf fish but not entirley.
nocturnal
soft red underbelly
silver/black eel like body
bichir like fins
not too mention UGLY again
I dont know if it has teeth but i dont see any, they might just be small.
grow to about 20"

Gobiodes broussonnetii, also called the dragon goby or the violet goby.

A peaceful scavenger that lives in brackish water.

Here's a previous thread on the violet goby. It should answer a lot of the questions you have about it and it provides some helpful links.

yea i agree with patato. i have seen these at my petsmart as well. i think they would be ok in a full FW set-up but adding salt is always ok,

when u say wolf fish, i think u are referring to the S.W wolffish, like eel like, not the FW, as i got kinda confused when you said Wolf fish, the FW wolf fish looks nothing like an eel.< just some pain in the butt knowledge.

They are really cool! I really dont think petstores should carry them though, too many people try to stick them in a 10g!


if you get one remember that they need a large tank!

ive seen those fish in wal mart but they are fairly small so you could probbably keep 1 in a say 20 gallon whil it grows and set up another tank when it gets larger make sure the tank is covered though.
