Here's a little para-poll, designed to identify some of the easiest fish to spawn from the main fish groups. Which are these fish, in your opinion? I'm just looking for spawning, not breeding.

Catfish- Corydoras aeneus
Cichlids- Convicts
Characins- Lemon tetras
Cyprinids- Zebra danios
Livebearers- Guppies
Labyrinth fish- Blue gouramis

These are all based on experience with the fish, or with what I've read. They aren't necessarily the easiest.

If you want to split it up, perhaps Convicts could represent only Central America. I'm not sure what South would be but someone else can deal with that.

Riverine Africa - Krib
Rift Lake Africa - Multis
Those are my votes, anyway.

Agree on the others, although I suspect there's an easier labyrinth to be found - something less territorial, perhaps.

What, may I ak, is the difference between breeding and spawning? Regardless-IMO, guppies are probably the easiest fish to breed and/or spawn, whatever the difference may be.

I would say that spawning has a narrower definition than breeding, encompassing only the act of mating and the hatching of the eggs. I would counnt breeding as also including the rasing of the fry.

but they basically are used for the same thing.

I suppose technically spawning is the act of mating.

For animals, the entire universe has been neatly divided into things to (a) mate with, (b) eat, (c) run away from, and (d) rocks. - Terry Pratchett
