my corydoras breed for me about a week ago. it came as a bit of a supprise. i got back from work and there were eggs all over the glass. i've been keeping them in a breeding net floating in the tank near the filter out flow so that the water is airated and circulated. the eggs that have survived and not fungused have now hatched and i don't know what to do now. as this is my first fish baby experience i am completely clueless. what do i feed them on. how much and when. help me please

yey fish babys/:'

Cali posted a nice bit about raising the cory fry and nursery tanks when I was asking the same question...because until now I've been letting them just go to mother natures way, and have been quite successful actually...here is a link to my post, his answer is like 4 down i think? and if I can find him i'll send him this way...heidi

Hot foot to your LFS and see if they have Liquifry egglayer food. This should keep your baby Corys going nicely until you can fire up an infusoria culture.

Get a one gallon pickle jar, fill with water, and let a piece of over-ripe banana skin and some fresh peas rot in the water. Wait till the cloudiness disperses. Then, with a hand magnifying lens, see if you can see lots of little specks hopping about in the water. These are your infusorians. Prime baby fish food. Feed with a dropper from the layer containing the specks when you have your infusorians.

Also, when implementing water changes, do small ones often. Say, two litres twice per day. This will minimise the shock to the system for your fry, but keep things clean until they're big enough for a more regular water change and gravel vac régime.

Thanks Cali, that makes a lot of sense...of course I'm not sure if I could tolerate the smellhow bad does it smell?

Maybe I'll just leave the babies in the tank till they are large enough for me to see and catch *shrugs* just a thought and decision I'll have to make this summer...heidi
