I have an empty 20 gallon sitting on my table in my room and I dont know what to do with it. I have tried a cichlid tank and a planted aquarium in that 20 gallon and both tored it down when I got my 55 and 200, what should I try next?

Make it a SA tank & go with some Tetra's & Corydoras, with a few Plants & Driftwood.

How about an Asian Biotype?
Go with a school of 6 Threadfin Rainbowfish
then add 6 harlequin rasbora, and finish off with 8 kuhli loaches for cleanup and some freshwater shrimp like cherrys, wood, or amano, or ghost shrimp.
For a centerpeice fish add either a nice male or female betta, a paradise gourami, or a dwarf gourami.

I think that 20 gal. is a bit small for salt water fish.

Shell dwellers would be cool in that tank and there are several species to choose from.

Aquatic,
You could do a nano reef. That would be cool.
The only thing to keep in mind, is that you could probably only really do a good number of inverts, corals, anemones, that type of thing, and would be very limited to your number of fish and types of fish.
Theres a few types of fish you could have in a 20g,
like Royal Gramma (1-2 not sure how aggressive they are)
True Percula Clown (1-2)
Firefish Goby (probably only 1)
Other small gobys
Heres a link to a nano reef section and fish suitable, have a browse and see what you think.

Hmm, coral and invert sounds really interesting...I never had any experience with them, are they hard to take care?
