Hi, i am setting up a new 260 litre tank and would like to keep angels, i am looking for advice and suggestions for what to keep with them for a colourful community aquarium.
some of the fish we are considering are cardinal tetras, guppys, platys, dwarf gouramies and siamese algae eaters. are these ok and what other fish would you suggest? and what catfish or loach would you recomend for such a tank.
thanks

in my experiances with angels i was able to keep anything i bought with them even a school of neon tetras but you just have to watch out for fin nipping but with a tank that size buy the angels and the algae eater and the loaches as the algae eater houldn't bother the angels and the loaches (try clown ) as they are my fav and let the establish them selve and then get some type of tetra cardinals might work but make sure there is a lot of hiding places and lots open spaces too which is doable in a 70 gallon tank

I think that's 68-69g, nice sized tank

The only tetras I've kept with angels are black phantoms. Neons, which are similar to cardinals, are the natural prey of angels. Some people have been successful keeping them together though.

Livebearers should be fine, just remember the angels will most likely eat they fry.

For a schooling fish I'd recommend harlequin rasboras, or a peaceful barb depending on what's available in your area.

I'm not sure about combining angels and gouramis.

With that size tank you could get an BN plec, which are interesting looking and great algae eaters. You could have a group of cories or loaches, or even both. Many, many choices for cories. For loaches I'd recommend queens or yo-yos.

Good luck and keep us posted

With my Angels i have, Rummynose Tetra, Lemon Tetra, Black Neons, Bronze, Albino, Leopard Corydoras, Bristle Nose Catfish & Rams. All are fine together & i don't have any problems.

Hey wendy welcome to the site.
Have a look thru [link=this FAQ]http://www.fishprofiles.net/faq/fish-popular.asp" style="COLOR: #EB4288[/link] It's one of the FAQ's that helped me out immensly when I first started picking fish for my tanks.
Personally I'm not a big fan of tetras, I prefer the more active barbs and corys.
It's always a good idea to look thru your local fish store (LFS) and see what's available there before looking thru the profiles. I've had a number of times where I find the perfect fish...only to get to the LFS and have them tell me they've never heard of it .

Make sure the tank compleatly cycles before adding any more fish.
A cycled tank will have readings of zero ammonia, zero nitrIte and nitrAtes present 10ppm or so.

Enjoy the zebras they're real fun to watch. My guys love playing tug of war with a bit of thawed pea .
