Most fish I have to catch are large so I take out all the hiding places and other decor that could hurt them. Then I use my large net and corner them and scoop them up. I do this for most of my fish and I haven't had a problem.

One of the best ways I've found to capture fish is to use a net as well as a cup/bucket. Place the cup into the tank and submerge it, then use the net to gently guide the fish into the cup. It can take some practice, but once you can do it effectively, it's a very low stress way to catch fish, especially fish that can be caught or injured in a net.

i read some where to use a large cup to chase them into that way you can just raise the cup and they are trapped.

Make sure that your hands are super clean and use your other hand to create traps to herd them into the net. I also try and trap them in their caves and such. It all really depends on the kind of fish you are after. Hope this helps!
