Rain water? are you in austrailia?

If there's no chlorine that's been put in the water, ie: water that comes from a processing plant, then there shouldnt be a need for conditioners.

Hi Guys,

Well my fish are going great now. I think they are actually happy. I got 5 (1 male 4 females) guppys and 8 neons in there now and all seems fine

Im thinking about buying some drawf Gouramies and adding them too the tank as well. Im thinking of adding 4.

It it normal for Neons to chase/peck each other?

With the filter it is silent as! The water that is coming from the filter to the water is actually quite relaxing and we really dont mind it.

I might have to check my Nitrates level when I come home but all seems great!

In saiya's case, noisy might be good! I'm not familiar with these tanks but if the noise is from the water dropping into the tank from above, then this might be providing the extra surface aggitation babel was recommending to help the fish survive the high nitrites.

saiya, how is it going? What are the nitrite levels now, and are the fish surviving ok?

I saw one of those set up at my lfs. It was Pet Supplies Plus store. Looked nice, everything there. It was a little pricey, tho, and the size wasn't what I'm lookin for.

I had to have a drill cus the screws were quite tight when screwing them in. Putting a phillips head bit on the end made it much easier and quicker.

They are the whole tank.

Light, filter, hood. Cabinet is extra but is well worth it.

Have a look at this site

A drill???? What you need that for??? Mine had all the holds in place and just had to figure out what bit went where! However the front doors don't shut flush. They have a cap in between them but they do look awesome.

Setting mine up this weekend with black rocks, Hoping my 3 kissing gouramis will fit nicely in there and a few neons and a couple of other fish as well.

Hi all,

I recently bought a Aqua One AR-620T fish tank. Its about 170 Liters/45 Gallons.

Ive recently put some Guppys and Neonsfish in during the course of a week. Had a look at the Amonia, Nitrite and Nitrate levels and all seems fine.

Lately the new fish have been dieing.

Ive let my tank run for about a week before I started putting fish in.

Ive ran all the tests again PH is at 7.0, Amonia is 0 NiTrite I think was .20 (ill doulbe check when I get home) and Nitrate was 0.

Ive noticed that my tank is running at 29 Deg C. Thats WITHOUT the heater even being connected. (We have no air condidtioner in our house and also ive noticed that the water gets hotter when the tank lights are on).

Does anyone have any ideas on why the fish are not making it or could it be disease related or the heat is too much?

Ive made a website but havent had enought time to fix it up as I was too busy trying to figure out why the fish arnt making it.

You can see my setup within there which will give you some background pictures.

http://users.bigpond.net.au/aquaone/index.htm

Any suggestions at all would be greatly appeciated as I am stumped at what is going on

Hi RAST,

Yeah the stand was a real pain the the back side to setup. I was soo clad when I finished the stand. I wish I had a drill in the first place before I started I had to borrow one.

In my opinion these Aqua One tanks are awsome. Very good quality but its too bad with the lack of documentations for the unit.

I can vouch for the fact that Black Tetras (aka "Black Skirt Tetras" work very well for tank cycling -- they seem totally unfazed by the ammonia and nitrite spikes.

I just got an Aqua1 - AR 620 tank too (not the Tall version tho in the metalic blue/steel colour. Will get some pics soon once all completed)

I am interested in your thoughts on these tanks?

I just looked at your website. Very Nice. I too have much difficulty on the building of the stand! Thank god I am not the only one! lol Took me about an hour and a half just for the stand.

I am setting mine up this weekend.

Excellent thanks for your help Babelfish.

Do you think I should do a water change? The water now is nearly 2 weeks old? Or should I wait until my Nitrates level goes higher?

BTW im using rainwater is that bad? Should I still put some of that chlorine conditioner water ager in the rainwater when replacing?

The fact that the ammonia is zero just means you missed the spike. My experience has been that the ammonia spike is generally the shortest and if not tested daily or if you've seeded the tank you may not see it at all. Additionally since you've got live plants they may have consumed enough that it wouldnt register on a test .

Rather than swapping the fish, which will only lead to more stress, I'd suggest looking for either cycle or biospira both of which contain the bacteria that you're trying to grow in your tank to complete the cycle. Since you're not showing nitrAtes yet it looks like you may have a few weeks to go yet. Increascing the surface agitation with an airstone should help as well.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the tip. Looks like I should of got some Danious first in the tank. Bugger.

Yeah it is summer over here in Australia which puts the heat up real high.

My tank is quite heavily planted so I leave the light on from 3pm to 11pm. So I can watch when I come home from work.

But the thing that gets me is that my Amonia and Nitrate are reading 0 with the Nitrite only in the .20 band which has got me thinking whats going on.

Hi saiya,
Welcome to the site.

The reason the fish are dying is because the tank is cycling still and the fish you have stocked the tank with are not cycle hardy. [link=Here is a link]http://www.fishprofiles.net/faq/begin-cycling.asp" style="COLOR: #EB4288[/link] about the cycle. If after reading it you still have questions feel free to ask .

As for the tank temperature, that often becomes a problem in the summer. If you don't have live plants in the tank there is no reason to have the lights on for longer than a few moments a day . Room light will be enough for the fish to have a day/night period. If you do have live plants in the tank a trick I used over the summer was to switch day for night. I had the tank lights come on @2am then turn off for a while in the middle of the day then on again for a period in the evenings. My tank did still stay around 82, but it didnt rise as high as it would have otherwise.

Other tricks you can use include letting a fan blow over the surface and hanging wet towels over the tank (make sure they dont' actually drain water from the tank). Whatever you do do NOT place ice cubes in the tank, this will cause too fast of a drop in tank temp and cold spots in the tank which will likely lead to ich.

its called "cycling". your fish are producing toxic chemicals from thier waste. eventually there will be bacteria to correct this.

this link will help ya [link=Cycling]http://www.fishprofiles.net/faq/begin-cycling.asp" style="COLOR: #00FFFF[/link]
