Well, I went out this evening to get a few things, was gone for 2 hours, came home, and was playing a Vid, then hear this dripping sound. So I pause my game, and listen, sure enough I hear "Drip, drip, driiiiiip, drip drip drip"
I look over, and then walk over, and under my tank, on my brand new laminate floor, is a quite substantial puddle. One look tells the tale- the water level on the tank is substantially reduced. So, its 9:15pm, I start calling around- no fish store is open or can help me out- a tank large enough to replace a 90g is just simply not in existance in those 2 stores. No luck at the other ones.
So, out came the tote bins and the buckets, and in the fish went. It appears my tank has sprung a seal, but not easy to tell whether the right side or the left side went. It is an older tank, and was originally built to be mounted in a wall. It lasted a year anyway. So, tomorrow morning I am off to get the 135g I saw at the pet store, as it will fit the stand I had for my 90 (60"- a traditional 135 length, rare for a 90).
Anyway, so all my fish are in the following locations:
All who could fit went in the 25g, its full so full now, but i put one of my canister filters on it to save the bacteria, and the fish seem OK, if slightly packed (think sardines). I added some stresszyme and some prime, and hopefully they will all be OK till tomorrow. My very large Bala Sharks (3), and my very large weather loaches (3), are currently in a tote bin half full of water, with a heater, air stone, and sponge filter for the night. I am sure they will be OK.
Anyway, what an ordeal! I cant believe it. Just cant. This kind of thing only happens on weekends or after hours. Well 9am will be coming in 8 hours, so hopefully I will be able to go rent a truck and pick up the new tank prior to 11am. Whatta day tomorrow will be.
Im exhausted, so goodnight all, and wish me luck in the morn!
Blah...and just after I got my 90g aquascaped how I liked it almost....
Oh well...a 135 will give me more options...muahahaha....just what I wanted but not this way....]:|]

I was in bed when the wife called out the carpet in front of the tank was all wet. Several thousand $$$ insurance claim later alls well.
Mine took several weeks for the insurance company to make up their mind what to do. I also saved all the water, base, filter wool ( it was a back drop) I could.

Next day I bought extra large plastic bins sorted out the water, base & fish etc into several containers. Never lost a fish but one SAE did jump out. I also found a BN several days later still in the base of the old tank alive and kicking he also survived and possibly still alive in the new tank.

Now you will have a new tank and no problems at all.

I know how you fell it will pass when you can sit back and admire your new tank.

Boy can I relate. I have had several occassions to come home and see a tank half full and the ominous sound of dripping water. Really frustrating. I'm glad you weren't out of town or you may have come home to an empty tank. Good luck on setting up the new tank today.

That's really bad luck. I'm very sorry.
The good thing is that you where at home & now you're upgrading to a bigger tank.
Good luck for your new tank & take care of your fish.

Well, I got the new tank. Unfortunately the big tank was a foot too long, and I called every single pet store on this island (about 2 dozen stores), and not one store had in stock a 5foot tank of 90 gallons or larger. So, knowing my fish would need a new home sooner rather than later, I swallowed my desires and pride and bought a very incredibly lovely 75g tank. It is 48lx18wx20h and I got it, the stand that matches (also lovely), and the glass top for $450. It was the best I could do without waiting a week for fish. But on another note, I got Pete n Sid - my breeding angels into their own 25g tank now, with just 2 buenos aires tetra for dither fish and 5 corydoras aenus. They seem incredibly happy, and are already cleaning the leaves on their sword plant in preparation for the next clutch of eggs. And my new tank, now set up, is lovely. It is smaller, and some fish will have to find new homes eventually, but for now it is planted, aquascaped (mostly , for today anyway im exhausted), and it is lovely. I got everything working, all the filters in place, and all done, all I have left to do is clean my living room, it looks like a disaster hit it. I am happy with todays effort, and while I may not have upgraded to a larger tank, I upgraded to a brand new pretty one with no scratches, chips, or loose silicone. And most of all, the fish seem happy again!
Also, as a present, my Turqoise Discus got a companion, and now they are cruisin around inseperable. What a long, tiring, but rewarding day.
