I fed my fish some frozen Bloodworms yesterday. One of my small angels took a large clump and then I noticed some of the worms coming throught the gills. The angel looked to be gagging or choking on them. After about 30 seconds the worms broke loose and the fish was fine. It just freaked me out for a second. Is this normal. Just curios.

this behaviour happens in alot of fish especially cichlids. They simply 'eat more than they can chew', and some of the food escapes, it can go through the gills because the entrance to the gills is near to the mouth opening, it is nothing to worry about, if you want to prevent it happening just break the worms up in your fingers so the angelfish cannot eat a big chunk of them.

I've also noticed that fish will 'shred' food by passing it through their gill slits, to try and make it too small for other fish to eat. The theory behind this behavior is that- "The less for there is for other fish, the less they will stay in my territory, and the more food will be available for me." It is pretty interesting that fish know enough to do this, if you think about it. Still, it's probably just an instinct.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

Frozen food should be thawed out in a container of aquarium water and fed small amounts at a time.
