OK, I guess I am going to start a thread about fish rooms and see if anyone out there has one besides myself. I am interested to see what others are doing in regards to plumbing, heating, filtration, rack systems, basically the whole 9 yards to setting up a fish room. For example, in my fish room I am running a sweetwater blower, a 1 1/2 horse pool pump and sand filter, filter sponges in each tank, 2 2000 watt heaters, recirculated water as well as the ability to do once thru exchanges thru the sump, 1 1/2 inch feed lines with 1/2 drops to each tank, 1/2 leads to 2" return lines to sump. You get the idea of what I am looking for. Anything you would do different, anything you plan to add?

Once I grow up and graduate from college.....say about two years from now..... and get house of my own instead of renting, I want to build tanks in the walls. I would like them to be see thru if posible and I want to have all my pluming right there for cleaning and re filling. Right now I am not doing anything too crazy. I have three 4 footers in my studio apt. Two are stacked and the other is in the kitchen.

Right now , I have multiple tanks setup, but no "fish room". When I bought my house, I was noodling with the idea of setting one up using a storage area in the basement. Upon checking to have it finished, heated, proper drainage, etc- not including the equipment, the cost was more than I wanted to spend at the moment.

You can try sending a message to ACIDRAIN, I beleive he has one.

hmmm, Simply put.

Sponge filters and a really good air pump. My room has 21 tanks all racks are 3 high (18" talls are 2/stand).
Single strip light on every tank, glass tops....

The Turtle pond is the only thing in the room that has a trickle filter system...

Do you have a fish room? or are you planning?
That pool equipment makes me a little nervous

The pool pump and sand filter are actually quite well suited for the fish room. The pump has a stainless shaft and plastic impeller, while the filter is just a fiberglass shell with playsand as a bio bed. The only downfall to this system is that I am needing to drill an extra drain in each of my tanks due to the flow rate produced. Right now I am running the flow at about half rate into the tanks to avoid overflowing. Other than that tho, the pool pump cant be beat.

I was talking to one of my co-workers and he was telling me that our boss at the LFS has quite the crazy set up. Something to the fact that he just pushes buttons and there goes the water changes. Stuff like that......
