hey guys

i have a new 55g tank. and i'm ready to put fish in it to aid the cycling process. heres what i have in the house what should i use? i have a tiger barb and an otto in the 55g at the moment. i'm happy to go and buy some "cycling" fish. so heres the list.

2x silver dollars
2x angelfish
3x rosy barbs
1x paradise fish
2x guppy 8 x guppy fry
5x black window tetra
5x platy
1x dwarf gourami
1x flame gourami
1x pearl gourami
3x molly
8x red eye tetra

these fish are all in different tanks! not all in the one lol.

Go with the black widow tetras. They are a very hardy species and should be able to handle the cycle without any problems.

They dont need a school though. They are fine as long is there a female for every male or just all males. If I would to make anything a bigger school it would be the silver dollars as they would prefer a school much more than the rosy and with 2 may not feel as comfortable patroling your tank.

Rosy barbs are also good for cycling. While some people have used ottos for cycling tanks I wouldnt' suggest it unless you're really really sure of what you're doing. Rosies are schooling but they really are more of shoaling fish than schooling fish and dont' freak out if they are in smaller groups. Even pairs will do okay.
