Hi People,

Basically, ive asked my boss at work if there is any chance of being allowed to setup a tank at work.

She has said yes and said if its ok with the big bosses(i will come to that in a mo) then i can have a good 2metre spot along one wall in the office.

all i have to do is convince the bosses of my boss and prove that it wouldnt be a risk to saftey etc..

I need to provide reasons why it would be positive to have it in the office and also create good answers for all the negatives people will say about it (eg cost etc....)

Any help would be fantastic, i have untill tuesday to draw up a decent document to hand to my boss.

if its in the view of the public, and depending on what u do, i guess it could draw new customers, and also the people walking past would enjoy looking at it

Is the tank where everyone can see it. If so maybe you can start a collection with your co-workers and have the company match what you raised. Maybe get some really nice colorful pictures of the fish you are going to get to convice them that it is nice to look at.-fish are better than plastic plants anyway. 1. fish can relieve stress eg lower blood pressure
2. if you work on a computer to avoid Eye strain you should look at some thing other than the screen every ten minutes - people will want to look at the fish tank.
3. shy/quiet/new members of the "team" maybe draw in to conversation about the fish etc helping them settle in
4. gives people a focus - some thing to care about talk other than them selves - positive interactions not just about how rubbish work is!
5. Green (the predominant colour of most tanks) Very calming.

Essentially fish tanks help create a relaxing environment and encourage people positive relaxed feeelings in people - a much more comfortable productive environment - all studies say most people work best when they can see or have access to a "natural" environment - Fish tank = tiny piece of nature.

on the "negative front

Cost = do a deal with LFS to Advertise(small and tasteful)their name on the stand get some percentage off???

WC - do after work to not get in the way?

what ever negs could there be? i only see the positives!

Good luck on the persuading front!

GFG

Get some pictures of tanks set up in doctors offices, reception areas, and any other places of business. maybe even of your own tank at home to show off your abilities.
