Voted for: I enjoy it

I like doing WCs on my 55g because it's so easy and it looks so sparkly and clean when I'm done. If I'm in the right mood or I need to get away for a while, the betta tanks are enjoyable as well. I retreat to the laundry room and you don't see me for a while.

I do look at it as just something that has to get done. But I find enjoyment from the benefits it has.

I like seeing my tank crystal clear and spotless.

A few weeks ago I would have voted for "Just something that has to be done," but ever since I've gotten extremely busy at work, I've noticed one thing I miss most is being able to take care of my tank - the water changes, the cleaning, pruning, rearranging plants, planting clippings, cleaning the filter. Strange as it may sound, I'm looking forward to a day where I can just devote a good couple hours to cleaning my tank.

When you start to get more and more tanks, doing water changes becomes more of a chore. However, I do not look at like someting that is a pain to do. I still like doing them.

Although I might sometimes grumble about getting started on it....and boss sometimes complains that I take too much time on the tanks.

i've got a heavily planted 6-footer and i enjoy the hour or two it takes me once a week to keep it in top shape. lets face it, 2 hours is hardly a sacrifice for a week of enjoyment, is it? put on some music, play with the fishies - lovely!

How do you feel about regular tank maintenance (water changes, gravel vacs, etc)?

Well...

I don't really like doing FW maint, but SW doesn't bother me, yet. Cept for the stingy feeling you get when you have a cut...lol

I also think having a python makes it easier. Buckets suck.

True confession - most of the time I find it relaxing to tinker on my tanks in any way. I like to take out all or most of the stuff at least every 6-8 weeks and do a deep gravel vac where it was all at. This is easy on a 20 gallon. I find myself doing it on my 36 gallon too. I hope I don't see a need to do that when I get a 125 or larger

I enjoy it.

I really like having something to do that I WANT to do. I'm always being pressed to do this chore, or that project. None of those things are things I want to do, so I always end up procrastinating and trying to avoid them. I can't get out of the house enough to avoid them completely, but doing my fish stuff is an escape from it all. I'm not asked to do anything while I'm doing it, and it is nice to play with the fish. It is comforting sometimes knowing that something relies on you. The work itself isn't hard at all either. If I have to spend a day at home, my ideal day would be spent just working with my tanks mostly.
