I noticed fungus looking stuff on the bottom sides of my fake plants ](i am guessing b/c its away from the light). I took the plants out to clean them and I think a lot of the stuff got into the water. Should I treat the tank for fungus or should I wait to see if the fish have any fungus symptoms. Or should I do a big water change? Tank is 12 gallons, 7 fish (3 mollies, 2 guppies, 2 danios).

Thanks

Jamie

P.S. My filter is sucking up a lot of the fungus crud. Is there anyway to clean my filters out without hurting the beneficial bacteria?

can you describe the fungus? does it come off easily if you do a gravel vac? Does it look like little fuzzy balls?

Sounds a bit like rotting food.

er, well, that will likely kill the bacteria if their town water is chlorinated, try swooshing it around in a bucket of tank water
