What is your purpose for getting a new light? If it is used to grow plants better then I would suggest you get a Power Compact (PC) Strip Light. You will outgrow the 40W that this hood is providing. How big is your tank? Basically, PCs pack more wattage in the same size and as such you can get a higher wpg which will help your plants (up to a certain point, namely above 2 wpg, when you should also add CO2). If your purpose is simply to look at your fishies then this light should be just fine (if your tank is not too large). Can you place hardware store bulbs in it? I don’t know, some hoods seem not to allow that switch ba Personally, and that is just my feeling, JEBO is not of the best quality. Hope this helps, Ingo |

Or do you need it right now? Do you have plants already? Your tank is going to require quite a lot of light to give plants at the bottom a chance to grow effectively. What are the other dimensons, besides 36" long? Ingo |
Donkynutz![]() Enthusiast Posts: 225 Kudos: 225 Votes: 2 Registered: 01-May-2005 ![]() | 36long, 18" width and 24" tall, and yes it is moderatly planted right now, with lace java fern, normal java fern, Amazon swords here is a link with my tank and most of the plants i had alot given to me so i dont really know the names. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a250/Donkynutz/tank.jpg Really my main goal is too get some different coloured plants except for green plants to break the colours up but for the most part from what ive read, the red plants are mid to mid to high light. And the co2 might be comming a lil quicker than i thought, just ran across some extra cash. Thanx for all your help and advice ![]() |
