aba aba is a very large snakelike fish, that is a releative to clwon knifes, BGK and the knife family. but i think they have their fan fin, on the top instead of the bottom.

Aba Abas are not related to Clown Knifefish at all...

They are nocturnal and predatory towards small fish, and they grow to about 20" long. A 180 gallon tank would be the bare minimum tank size to keep one in, expecially since they tend to be rather damanding in terms of their water chemistry and quality.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

The Aba aba is the sole member of the family Gymnarchidae. Aba abas are in the same order as Clown Knifefish, so technically you could say they are somewhat related. However, they are not closely related in anyway to the BGK and other electric knifefishes.

Also, some sources say these fish can exceed 5' in length, not just 20"... Either way, big fish, big tank. Also, I have heard of this type of fish being extraordinarily aggressive, but this fish is not common enough to make any sort of generalizations.

They get really large, my uncle had a couple in various tanks. His largest one would be roughly 4 1/2 feet. I doubt the average aquarist should try keeping them, especially since they usually eat only worms, fish, and live foods.

Edit: Oh and to make it clearer, I was in China this summer, so I basically saw these fish everyday. They seemed relatively peaceful toward the other large fish in the tank (tiger datnoids, giant gouramis, arowanna, stingrays), but it sometimes would chase the smaller fish, such as red hooks. They do eat an enormous amount of minnows.

I doubt it could turn in a 180 gallon unless it's a juvenile.

'Sizable' as in circa 12", I assume? Where I come from, a 'sizeable' Nile croc is anything over 12'....12" is a hatchling.
