My sister is living in Hawaii and I was curious if there were any fresh water fish in Hawaii that I could get there easier than in the lower 48 or if there were any that I should ask her to try and catch from the wild for me?

I am not sure that it would be worth it wiz.

Here is a link of freshwater fish in Hawaii and it seems most of them are easily accesible through most petshops.

fishbase

as you can see most of them are introduced

Hawaii has strict regulations on the import and export of plants and animals, as you can see they do have problems with non-native species being introduced and causing problems with the local wildlife. For example, the moongooses (mongeese?) are a very big problem over there. You will find that even if your sister was able to find an interesting freshwater fish species in the wild (there really aren't any that I know of), it would be tough to get it out.

Hawaii is much better known for its marine life, and there are exporters which ship fish such as tangs and angelfish out across the world for sale in the aquarium trade.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

Last I checked, most of the native species are silversides and gobies that are endangered and/or strictly protected. I wouldn't count on getting anything from there anytime soon.
