The first thing I noticed was my 2 smaller discus dead. This upset me, but then I noticed EVERY fish in the tank was dead. I checked the water temperature and it was over 100 degrees. I had checked the water temp earlier in the day and fed my fish, and now I come home to this. I don't think I'll be buying any fish for a while. There might be some tanks for sale. Has anyone ever had this happen to them. |

Nothing like that has ever happened to me and I'm not sure how I'd cope if it did. But please don't give up. These things happen. Give yourself some time and maybe you'll be ready for some new fish soon.Good luck! ![]() |

Heater incidents will occur regardless of manufacturer. I prefer using two units in my aquariums. Each unit is a bit more than half of what would be required to heat the aquartium. A friend was recently rearranging his discus tanks. He had placed 5 discus into a five gallon bucket with a submersible heater while he was working with his aquascaping. Unfortunately, he had left a portion of the heater exposed and he boiled his fish. The problem with his submersible heater is that it was triggered by the partial exposure to air temp. __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |

But, like the others I encourage you to continue on. This was not something that you caused out of neglect or lack of caring, but an equipment malfunction which happens to many. It may sound trite, however take this as an opportunity to learn and to plan out new and better arrangements for future inhabitants. |

To try to prevent incidents, buy some good products & may the luck be on your side. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/s8xi5heh/my_photos http://www.geocities.com/s8xi5heh/classic_blue.html http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |
