| Help! Cloudy water caused by rotifera? | |
cihigh![]() Fingerling Posts: 37 Kudos: 15 Votes: 0 Registered: 26-Jan-2003 ![]() | I'm Desperate! See also my thread in Water Quality. My beautiful 29 gal tank of 3 years is out of whack for about 4 mos after using an algae preventer. My tetras, rasboras and Melanotaenia praecox fish seem healthy. And fast. Frustrated with the cloudiness I looked at water droplets under my ancient children's microscope and saw at about 200X ? (10 x 20) primitive creatures (not Daphnia, doubtful Hydra, very small, barely noticeable as particles in water with the naked eye). They look like a simple rotifer. A LOT OF THEM. Aquarisol doesn't stop it. Fungus cure for a sick lemon tet (iodine) slowed but didn't stop it. Aquarium salt doesn't stop it. No I can't take a picture, can hardly see through reticle! Could draw one and fax it somewhere... I give up on getting cycle restarted until some control for these found. Hair algae also having a great time. I vacuum and change 8-10 gals weekly. Will it do ANY good to put in live plants? Pulled, washed, and put away fake flora. I only have large rocks and gravel substrate right now for ease of cleaning. Sometimes can't see through the tank IT'S BAD. Yes yes there's a cautionary tale in here but MY TANK NEEDS HELP! Thanks so much. |
