I just got a new (used) 30 gallon tank. I already had the 10 gallon. From all the fish I had, I moved to the 30 gallon: two cherry barbs, two hatchetfish, and two adult and 4 baby albino cories. Then I left in the 10 gallon: 4 guppies, 5 baby albino cories, and a golden algae eater.

Now I know for the 30 gallon, I am going to get 3 or 4 more hatchetfish. But then Im not sure. I think Ill try to find a britlenose pleco but other then that I clueless. Also, I do not know what to put in the 10 gallon. Please help!!

you might want to look into returning the golden algae eater. these guys get nasty when they get older. instead of sucking the algae out of the tank, they'll suck the slimcoat off other fish... not pleasant.

as far as the 10 goes, if you take that GAE out of there, it's still at its limit. remember, these cories are eventually going to grow up and you have to take their adult size into consideration.

with the 30 gallon, why don't you just complete the schools of barbs and hatchets. you could try getting 3-4 more hatchets and 4-5 more cherry barbs... this way you'll have all 3 stratas (top, middle, bottom) covered, and your tank will be full.

i wouldn't add any more species, your tank will look good with the ones you have.

yes i know the cories will grow up. but right now they are only about 3/8 inch each. and by the time they reach adult size, the guppies will be dead. so i would like to put something else in the tank, but im not sure what.

oh and also, cherry barbs do not school. they like to be in pairs. mine hated being around more cherry barbs. they love just the two of them....they follow each other everywhere.

Today I bought 4 more hatchetfish and an albino rainbow shark. I would like to get one more school of something. I was thinking harlequin rasboras or maybe glolight tetras or another tetra that has nice colors. Any suggestions?

Also what to do with the 10 gallon?

30 gal.- 6 Hatchets, 2 Cherry Barbs, 1 Albino Shark, 2 adult & 3 baby Albino Corydoras & 1 CAE (it's better to take him back to your LFS & get 6 Glowlight Tetra's instead).

10 gal.- 4 Guppy's & 6 baby Albino Corydoras.

well i have just noticed today that my cories have laid more eggs in the 30 gallon. the babies i have now, they laid in the 10 gallon back in june. now i wonder if i should bother to save some of these babies or let the fishies eat them??
also i will call about bringing in the golden algae eater. ive had him for like a year and hes never been any help on algae. he used to just chase the cherry barbs around but now hes in the 10 and they are in the 30.

Try to save the Corydoras eggs & trade the fry with your LFS.
Just give the CAE back to your LFS, as he will grow big for your tanks.

Well I brought the GAE to the LFS and got 6 "X-ray" Tetras. But now that I am home, I do not think they are that. They do not look like the Pristella which on here says its another name for it. Here is a picture of them:

If I moved the eggs to the 10 gallon with the 4 guppies and 5 baby cories, do you think the fry would get eaten as bad as in the tank they are in now?[/font]

The Xray tetras are actually albino glowlight tetras.
You have answers to that in your other thread.
The eggs would be best put in a breeder trap or net
or the like till the fry hatch and are big enough to be safe with the guppies.
