they like to have lots to explore & places to hide so they don't get bored, don't feel threatened by each other & can make their own teratories.

I'm doing a 6g at the mo for 3 dpf. It will have very fine gravel, A big bushey pastic plant & about 5 small caves/over hangs. It will look a little crowded to my eyes but the fishes will love it.

Hope this helps.

Anita.

thanks. that's about just what I had in mind. the wife wants to do kind of a fun tank for them, maybe the blue or red fine gravel and some caves. definitely some big bushy plastic plants.

A fun tank sounds like a neat idea for DPs; how many do you plan to have?

Since you're going with plastic plants substrate is up to you. I've read that too much color can stress fish though so you might want a neutral colored gravel and colored plants, or vice versa.

Otherwise you should be all set

it's a ten gallon tank, and I think dps need about 3 gals per so I was gonna get two females and one male, plus an oto or two. Wife wants maybe light blue or red (UGHHH) substrate, some decorations and plants. I just went thru the live plant thing and I think I'm better off with plastic. I like the way they look better anyways
