	How big should my bristlenose be to sex?
Leema_ Small Fry Posts: 5 Kudos: 6 Votes: 0 Registered: 19-Apr-2005	I've got a smallish (about 4cms or so) bristlenose catfish. I'm know I've looking for bristles on boys. (I've got an adult male and female breeding.) No whiskers at the moment... But how big should this fish be before I can say 'boy' or 'girl'?

sirbooks Moderator Sociopath Posts: 3875 Kudos: 5164 Votes: 932 Registered: 26-Jul-2004	Some species of Ancistrus can be harder to sex than others (less obvious bristles on the males), but I'd say that five cm is about where most males start getting evident bristle growth. And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."
