| How many fish should I have? | |
kevo2488![]() Small Fry Posts: 5 Kudos: 6 Votes: 0 Registered: 03-Nov-2005 ![]() | I have a 150 gallon tank. I would like to know how many fish it would be wise to stick in the thing. I would also like to know what kind of fish I should put in that would bottom feed or clean the tank a little. Thanks! ![]() |

What kind of fish do you like? Do you like large cichlids? or do you like small popular schooling fish? How much work and money do you want to put into this? Take a look through the profiles on this site and see what appeals to you. Also, is this your first tank? Welcome to FP ![]() |

I have a moderate amount of money to work with. I currently have one Lionhead Goldfish and three Ryukins. I'd like to add more, but keep enough room for the rest of the fish to swim around and such. Those are cold water fish and you shouldn't add tropiclas to a tank like that. You could add a few more fancy goldfish (oranda, fantails, etc.) or some whitecloud moutain minnows. If so then IMO that limits your options. For algae cleanup look into getting maybe a few bristlenose plecos, 2 or even three would be fine in your tank. They grow to 4 inches or so, but they'll need their own territories. |

The are darling. Here's a link: http://www.azgardens.com/algae_eating_fish.php Scroll all the way down and you will see him! I have two in my tank and they are the weirdest looking things, cute though. I got mine on Aquabid. Last edited by crazyred at 10-Nov-2005 13:34 "Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder." ![]() |

Goldies, are very robust and produce much waste. For the sake of water quality and room, your better off not adding anything. A pleco ont the bottom might work though. I'll do graffiti, If you sing to me in French. |
