Welcome to FP justkeepswimming

Maybe you can give us a little more info on your tank and the kind of fish you would like to have. Common fish, rare species, etc.

Do you have already any experience with fish?
Do you have your tank already set up (if so, for how long and what's in it)?

Hope to help you some more soon,

Ingo

Welcome, you have come to the best forum for help but we certainly require more infomation.

What type of fish are you interested in Fresh Water (Tropical or Cold) or Salt water.

If this is your first tank a 30g is a good size and reasonably easy to maintain providing you do it correctly.

What are you particular intrests in any of the above types of fish.

Do you want it planted which is the best in the long term and easy to maintain healthy fish.

Finally possible what do you have now filters etc

For a 30 gallon my suggestion is to look @some of the smaller barbs. They're nice and active and will appreaciate the swimming space the longer tank will provide. The important thing however is to look and see what is available @your local fish store (LFS) or what they'd be willing to order. Then do research here and elsewhere as to what will work best in your water and what won't outgrow your tank (for instance I wouldn't suggest anything with an adult size larger than 6".

I have another saltwater tank currently housing a sailfin tang, a mated pair of clown fish, a bangai cardinal fish, and a cute little fire shrimp.....so yeah I have some experience with fish. I am interested in tropical fish maybe even just brakish water fish too, but I don't want little tiny fish.

Maybe Convicts(black or pink) or Fire Mouths? They get to be about 5 to 6 inches. I keep Convicts and really like them.

ummm.... as for filters I have 1 external that cycles 120 gph, and will be getting another one here shortly....I don't have plants yet but I am thinking about it, I had some black convicts but they are really aggresive and I would like to have at least two or three different species in there........... so I put the convicts in the 125 gal. for now. I have black gravel and floresant(sp?) lights so I need some colorful fish to make it look good.

Welcome to FP
Have you thought about going with Lake Malawi Cichlids and then you could possibly go with a couple of varieties in the tank, and they are bright and colorful...Just a thought heidi

Hi, welcome to FPThat sounds like a great SW tank!
What about some large gouramis like a moonlight gourami, or a pair of kehole cichlids? Or maybe you could go lake Malawi or tangs.?

You could go with Freshwater angelfish. These fish can get up to 6 in. tall. I have a blacklace angel in my 30. She has been laying eggs every month or two. I wish she could have a mate. Some varities of angels are marbled , golden, blacklace, all black, half black, blushing ,smokies, silver , veiltails and many others. There are also rainbowfish, as the name suggests they come in a variety of colors and combos. they get between 3-5 in.

Hi, welcome to FP. Since I long for a tank with fw angelfish, I am suggesting a community South American Tank with angelfish as the centerpeice fish.
