	I know that this is going to sund like adumb question but...

They prefer to have company of their own kind, and actually grow relatively large (for a 10g), about 3-4 inches. Do you have another tank that would fit a group of them? If not I'd suggest you return him to the store when you get your tetras and corys. Doing so makes more room for the new fish.
