Well i've heard many things about water changes and syphoning and that if you do it too much that you can screw up the cyceling so what are the appropriate periods in which i should be doing water changes and syphoning...by the way my 10 gallon is indeed cycled.

Peter, I would go every other week, and do about 20-30% that being 2-3 gallons...and no it isn't a stupid question, it is one that is often asked, you obviously only want the best for your fish. Best of luck, Heidi

Before giving a good answer to your question, I want to know what is the tank stocked with and what is your filtration?

Glad to hear you'll be bumping up your schools My only concern is your gold barb. They prefer to have company of their own kind, and actually grow relatively large (for a 10g), about 3-4 inches. Do you have another tank that would fit a group of them? If not I'd suggest you return him to the store when you get your tetras and corys. Doing so makes more room for the new fish.

I believe Shannen wanted to know what brand and what size filter is running on the tank.
