Was in the fish shop earlier this week, and was buying some guppys. I saw some tiny little fish that looked like zebras, the dude told me they were convicts and I could keep them in my Bi Orb with corys, Neon Terras, and Guppies. They can't be more than 0.5 cm long now, but they chase the other fish all the time!! The dude also said that they would get about 7-8cm big! I though I would do some research and ended up here, Your site says they are Extreamly aggressive and get 20cm long!! Fo a 30cm wide Bi Orb they are gonna die!! But before that happens they will eat all my fish! Is there any way to make this work or should I take them back to the shop?(BTW I have a huge 200-250g tank with a pair of lovely 10cm Jack Dempseys, Could I wait for them to get alot bigger and put them in there?)
Thanks in advance!
dave

I've looked into Convicts myself, I wanted 2 in a 25Gal tank with a RTBShark and a BN Pleco. I was told bt one shop, this was Ok as long as it was 2 females.

Do you know what sex they are??

Also another thing, They can look after themselves well. I read stories of 3-4 Inch Convicts terrorising 12Inch Oscars.

Jack are a bit more aggressive than oscars though

As stated, they will not work out.

So, are you actually from Taiwan, or are you falsifying your location as you did your gender?

If so, were in Taiwan? They have the best damn imports over there. <---is sort of a second generation TWese. ;o

Pretty harsh statement there COL, a lot of couples use the same account. Pretty common over the years here.

You could put them in with the JDs when they are a bit bigger. How big is your BIO Orb? IS there anyway you could put a divide in for now to seperate the convicts from the others until they get bigger.

A friend of mine has just put a convict about 3inches in with a 5 Inch JDempsey and it runs ring around the Jack.

One last alternative, could you not get a real cheap small plastic tank to put either the guppies etc in until the convicts get big enough to put in with JDS
