Personally I like to see freshwater aquariums because that's what I keep It also seems-to me at least-that many public aquariums are marine.

I like seeing fish related to what I have but that are too large and/or agressive for me to have at home: arowana, tinfoil barbs, bala sharks, giant gouramis, big cichlids, etc.

I've seen a few times before tanks of 150+ gallons that hold bala sharks, lots of bala sharks. With 500+ gallons there are just so many options. You can pretty much do whatever you want, that's like giving these fish their natural homes. I think if you put in 10-15 bala sharks they would look incredible once they started to grow past that 10 inch mark. Also, silver dollars are great fish to have in public aquariums as they grow to a decent size and are constantly schooling. Clown loaches and blood parrot cichlids are the two others that come to mind. Both of those can grow to 8+ inches. I'm not sure of the compatibility of these four fish together, but they sure would look nice! Personally if i were to have that large of a tank i would be sticking to the biggest fish possible, mainly for display purposes.
