Well with CAE's having the potential to reach over a foot in length, he is not quite fit for survival in your ten gal.

I'll do graffiti,
If you sing to me in French.

Master--

I didn't see your post until after I posted. On the contrary, my CAE isn't ugly at all. I admire this fish immensely. So sleek and self-sufficient, like a cat. And that fish is tough. It's lived through atrocities inflicted by an amateur with a 10g tank. And a natural predator in an overcrowded tank? We're a team! I do stupid things, and my CAE cleans it up.

I'll have to start feeding Lyra less so that she can swim faster. I do love her, but like my garden--it's survival of the fittest.

Thank you for the passionate and unintended flattery of my CAE.

CAE is about 4" long. Molly is about 3" with the edges of her tail missing.

Right before I wrote this~~~
I saw the CAE chasing the molly. Now she's hiding in a corner. I thought with that sucker mouth, what could it do?

But it's all falling into place now. The temp was up a little on the tank today. Spring just hit and the weather has finally let go of it's chill. I wonder if the increase in temp was causing the agression from the CAE.

The frog is still tiny, but I have seen it gulp too close to the snail before (tentacles look delicious, I'm sure).

I appreciate the feedback. But can any of these fish or the frog eat shrimp?

Your predator is not Invisible. Its big, golden, and ugly, and a nasty bugger to boot.
Chinese Algae Eaters are very aggressive fish who eat other fish.
They do not choose algae as their number 1 choice of food.
Get rid of it, your problems will stop. Keep it, you will end up losing fish inevitably.

your frog may seem benign, but it is still a carnivore and a predator by nature and may be responsible for your mollys fin.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

I keep the lid closed but checked anyway since there's that gap in the back. Nothing. Is "ghost shrimp" a literal term? Have I simply lost my clairvoyance? Maybe her fin is a "ghost fin".
