I wouldnt have the discus in that tank and I'd have the schools filled out more, especially the ottos. ^_^ ![]() Current [link=Contest Rules]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Aquascaping/44382.html?200412022138" style="COLOR: #EB4288[/link] ![]() |

Discus are, in the end, cichlids, and keeping just two means one will bully the other - although being put in a community tank might keep them both stressed into corners, but I'm not sure that's an improvement. Ditto the angels - either two will pair off and stress/kill the other, or, if all three are males (two females will often pair off and lay infertile eggs in the absence of a male, but I've never heard of two males pairing off), one will bully the other two. If you want a pair, it's best to get six juvies and raise them until they pair off, then return the extras. I'd leave out the Discus entirely. If you want a Discus tank, it needs to be all geared toward making it the ideal environment for the discus. Your list is a community tank, with Discus in the fish list. They'll be stressed by the Yoyo's antics, the Angel's pecking order and/or breeding, the Gourami's territoriality, the cories making surface dashes, etc. I'm not saying they keep over and die at the slightest movement, but if you want bold, beautiful, healthy discus - this isn't the way to go about getting them. EDIT: Wait, you already have a Discus? Last edited by LittleMousling at 31-Jan-2005 12:31 -Molly Visit shelldwellers.com! |

None of my fish attack him even my breeding angels. My gourami is the most peacful fish in my tank. I think I will have to return one of my angels due to the other pair picking on him. |

You need to remove the bits and pieces stock and choose fewer types and up the numbers. Particularly for the cories and the like. Decide which of the bottom dwellers you are keen on and get 5 or so. They like to hang out in bigger groups. Move the breeding pair of angels to their own tank. I know you love angels so I am not recommending getting rid of them (usually breeding pairs are housed on their own, best for everyone involved. Discus are very sensitive creatures. Let them be the regal centrepiece for the tank without all the other stuff going on. If you don't want this sort of tank then maybe discus isn't the fish for you. No offence meant by that previous sentence but sometimes the fish we like the look of isn't always the sort of tank we want to maintain. Good luck ![]() ~~~ My fish blow kisses at me all day long ~~~ |

You can also add up the Ottos, Yoyo's & Corydoras. http://www.deathbydyeing.org/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |
