Does anyone here keep them?

I would like to try, but I have never been able to find them in ANY LFS near me. When I ask if they ever get them the answer is always they don't carry them.

Any ideas????

BM,

I think you'll be hard pressed to find an LFS with Killies, at least the colorful ones. I've looked and asked around here and have gotten the same response. Check out the site below. According to them, most Killie activity is done through egg trading and direct interactions with breeders. My area actually has an active Killie club and they have an annual show and auction. They look like really cool fish and their colors can be amazing.

We can get lots in the uk, my lfs had 6 species, but they are all pretty shortlived varieties. All the ones they have are full adult size so they may only live a few months , and if you have no luck breeding them it does seem a waste- especially if you set up a tank specifically for them.

The prices on liveaquaria are way too expensive. Currently in the AKA F & EL which is sent to all members someone is offering Fp. sjoestedti young pairs at 6 dollars each.

I've considered getting killi eggs or fish off aquabid a few times. The only ones here are a plain solid yellowish color.

I sometimes sell killifish eggs! =)
The aren't too hard to come by if you find a local club around your area.

Even here in Malta they aren't easy to find in LFS, but you can find them from local fish breeders. The best thing, is to buy some eggs from Aquabid & then try to breed them yourself.

My own eggs and eggs that I get from elsewhere.
